The Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) offers online courses covering a broad range of topics from Turkey’s history and culture to nature and touristic opportunities
TGA uses the Open edX platform, which is maintained by Artistanbul, an Open edX Marketplace provider, to deliver courses to their students. This Open edX instance is active in 13 languages and the number of languages offered is expected to increase over time. These languages are supported not only in the end-user interface but also in courses, certificates, exams and all assessment & evaluation processes.
The languages currently supported by this project portal are as follows: Turkish, English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Arabic, Hebrew, Romanian and Dutch.
This Open edX instance is an exceptional case considering the number of languages it supports! In this presentation, the lead developer from Artistanbul, Ms. Neslihan Turan and Simge Canatar, the TGA project coordinator, will share the struggles and lessons from this experience.
