Open edX 2020 Keynote Speakers

We are very excited to announce the keynote speakers for the 2020 Open edX Conference, which will take place on May 19 – 22. Hosted by the Nova School of Business & Economics and FCT, we’ll convene in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal.

It is our distinct pleasure to be joined by three education thought leaders from the worlds of learning science, academia and industry. This year’s speakers are Katrina Stevens, Paula Marques, Kelly Palmer and, as always, the opening keynote will be from the founder and CEO of edX, Anant Agarwal.

Katrina Stevens

Director of Learning Science at Chan Zuckerberg Initiative

Katrina Stevens

Katrina works on supporting the education ecosystem to increase the collection and use of evidence as well as the use of learning science to support improvements in learning success, especially for learners who have had the most challenges.

Paula Marques

Executive Director for Business Transformation, Executive Education at NOVA School of Business and Economics and the Head of Innovation at MERCER.

Paula Marques

Paula’s work focuses on how humans learn, bringing together research in neuroscience, anthropology, psychology and biology in order to adapt learning methodologies in the executive learning arena. She is also co-author of the book The Age of Super Humans.

Kelly Palmer

Chief Learning Officer at Degreed

Kelly Palmer

Kelly is on a mission to change the way the world learns. A well-known thought leader on learning, business, and career development, she is currently on the executive team of Degreed and was formerly the chief learning officer of LinkedIn. She is the co-author of the book The Expertise Economy: How the smartest companies use learning to engage, compete, and succeed, which was named one of the best business books of 2019. 

Anant Agarwal

Founder and CEO of edX

Anant Agarwal

An early leader in online education, Anant has guided edX since its very first course. Scientific American selected his work on organic computing as one of 10 World-Changing Ideas, and he was named in Forbes’ list of top 15 education innovators. 

The keynotes will take place on the mornings of May 20th and 21st. Additional details about the tutorials and workshops will be announced in the coming weeks.
