Today we’re pleased to announce the release of the thirteenth Open edX community release: Maple! Maple replaces Lilac, released about 6 months ago, as the newest release. Here are some high-level highlights about the Maple release; watch this blog in the coming weeks as we dive deeper into specific new features.
Maple was orchestrated by the Open edX community via the Build / Test / Release working group. As announced when we released Lilac, the Tutor installation method is now the only supported way of installing the Maple release. As you migrate off the native installation method, we hope you are pleased with the simplicity and ease-of-use that Tutor brings.
Maple includes many new features and bugfixes you’re sure to be excited about:
- The Learning Micro Frontend (MFE) is now the default course experience for learners, including section effort estimates, learner progress celebrations, and jump navigation. Look out for more details in future blog posts.
- Ease of use updates to the Common Problem Editor for course authors
- Maple allows giving users course and library creation rights on a per-organization basis
- And more! Check out the release notes that detail all notable Maple changes.
We’d like to give a big shout out to everyone who made this release possible – there are more names than can be listed, but kudos to the Build-Test-Release working group organizers: Group Chair Sofiane Bebert, Release Manager Régis Behmo, Release Testing Coordinator Jhony Avellar, Release Documentation Writer Peter Pinch, Bug Triager Adolfo Brandes, and Community Liason Dennis Bates. It has been a pleasure being part of the working group for Maple, and we hope to see more people join us for planning the next release, Nutmeg – planning is starting now!
