fixed conversion reactor

Postby hiren » 21 October 2018, 05:06

hello i am using a fixed conversion reactor and the reaction taking place is:
C + 2 H2 -----> CH4 graphite plus hydrogen giving methane , graphite in solid phase whereas hydrogen and methane in vapour.
( specifications:
input stream H2= 0.8267 kg/h inlet temperature , pressure is 800 degrees celsius and 1 bar
C= 45.864 kh/h
Reactor temperature 850 degrees celsius , pressure 1 bar and operating isothermally.)

Now the problem is 1) I set any value of conversion for hydrogen: it shows calculation of equilibrium failed .
2) In case of carbon if I set conversion value:
- any value from 0.1 to 1 it shows calculation of equilibrium failed.
- but if I set value as 0.0001 the flowsheet runs successfully (outlet stream H2- 0.825 kg/h C- 45.859 kg/h and some amount of methane)
- now if I slightly change conversion as 0.00009 or 0.00011 it again shows same error.
Can anyone please explain this?
