Problem(s) with COCO 3.2

Postby nrgeng » 10 March 2017, 17:05

Order of route point placement affects resultant flowsheet using COFE 3.2.0.3
I am including an image, which displays the problem, and will send an FSD if requested, for your review.

Problem(s) with COCO 3.2 {002}

Postby nrgeng » 12 March 2017, 13:30

Font selection in Text Box in COFE 3.2.0.3
Typing in the Text Box produces characters in 15 pt Tahoma font. Text copied from Notepad produces characters in 15 pt MS Sans font. Text copied from MS Word produces characters in the corresponding font type but in 16 pt font size. The MS Sans font type and 15 pt size are not available from the drop-down menus, and the 15 pt font size in any font type is not available.

This phenomenon results in a font type mismatch, but the text cannot be reformatted in MS Sans font type or in 15 pt font size. Can you suggest a solution to this problem?

Stream Types cannot be distinguished when printed in COFE 3.2.0.3
The Stream Types of Material and Energy appear to be the same when printed. I have included images which show the problem. Can this problem be resolved?

Automatic text box sizing in COFE 3.2.0.3
Text becomes truncated with automatic text box sizing when printed. When Insert Text is selected and text is typed into the text box, long text is sometimes truncated. I have included images which show the problem. Can this problem be resolved?

The order of route points is intended to affect the routing. The stream will go from the start, to the first route point, to the second, etc, to the end. I see however there is a problem inserting a new route point at the right location. It is supposed to be added there where you insert it. This is now fixed (CUP). Thank you for reporting this.

Fonts: when you paste, you copy the format from the source. I would expect notepad text to copy unformatted - trying: it actually switches to Tahoma when typing. This appears to be the default font for the box, as MS Sans is the default for COCO (which you can change for a file, select Custom from Font Size in flowsheet config); fixed - the default font is now applied. "MS Sans" seems to no longer exit, and "MS Sans Serif" looks different. I changed it to Arial. If you want to avoid pasting formatted from Word (or any other word processor), paste to Notepad (or any other text editor) first, and then to COFE; this will eliminate the format, as Notepad does not deal with format. Values that do not appear in the height drop down you can just type (just type 15 if you need it).

Energy stream and printing: I see something similar. Flaky behaviour of printer drivers, I think. I made some changes - see if you like this better. However, now the energy streams looks a lot like the information stream on my printer.

Truncated text: I made a fix. See if it works for you. Note that if this happens and you put a line around the box, the text will exceed its box. This is the printing functionality of the Rich Edit control - there is not much I can do about the fact that it cannot or will not size the font such that there is a sufficient match of scale on the printer.

Can it be that COFE was still running or some other application (perhaps a virus scanner) was holding a file lock on it? Unfortunately in your image I cannot see the end of the error messages that stated why COFE.exe could not be overwritten.

Do I correctly conclude that eventually it succeeded though?

I tested this update on Win10, WinVista, Win8, WinXP and linux/wine, and could not reproduce your issue. Which OS are you using?

The reason is displayed as "Failed to move COFE.exe..." in the first image file. The complete dialog is shown by overlapping the long script in both image files. It's all there if you match the overlapped phrases. Text files are not attachable!

Sorry, but I could not reproduce the error since I was able to update COFE from within the COFE program, but not by running CUP.

Did you notice that COFE64 3.2.0.4 installed, but not COFE 3.2.0.4? Strange isn't it? CUP was run four times.

I am using Win10.

The problem might appear again with the next attempted CUP 3.2.0.0 download.
