EVALUATION OF RESULTS

Postby thubelihle » 09 October 2017, 05:37

How do l perfom the following:
• Check residue curve maps for azeotropes
• Check binodal plots for LLE
• Perform simple flash separations to confirm expectations.
And apparently if there is LLE the Txy diagram has a horizontal line. l attached the picture, totally confused as to how l would see the LLE once l plot the binodal plots. Does COCO do binodal and residue curves. Are there any examples on the above 3 evaluation methods, to clear my confusion. Thanks for the help and sorry for many questions, still new on simulatio.

COCO will provide a TX diagram from the plot menu. This will happily include LL results, if your thermo package supports LL equilibria, but TEA does not. As LL splits are not considered by TEA, you will not get the right answer there were a LL phase split should take place.

TERNYP will do (ternary) residue curves for you: http://cocosimulator.org/index_help.php?page=plugins/ternyp.htm. There is no tool in COCO that will construct binodal curves.

A simple flash you can either do with a flash unit or with the Calculator. But support LL splits, provided your underlying thermo does.
