BOIL- UP AND REFLUX RATIO

Postby thubelihle » 08 March 2018, 05:25

Hi,
Is there a mathematical relationship between boil-up ratio and reflux ratio. Like, when given reflux ratio can l calculate reflux ratio; l read a text which stated that specifying reflux ratio implies boil- up ratio. Thanks.

Given a top and a bottom specification, all variables are fixed. This implies indeed that reflux ratio and boil-up ratio are coupled. They are however coupled through many equations (all that need to be solved for a valid column solution). There is not one single equation that relates boil up ratio to reflux ratio.
