Hi. Is the pressure l obtain from a pressure gauge a gauge pressure or some pressure gauges are capable of measuring absolute pressure? If so how would l distinguish if its gauge or absolute pressure from the instrument

You could check with the manufacturer? Read the documentation on the gauge? If that is not an option - take the pressure off and see what it reads?

Thank you jasper. So assuming it reads zero, then thats gauge pressure?

Indeed - as zero absolute pressure would imply vaccuum.
